On July 26, 1966 the first meeting of the Junior Service League took place. It was then that the founding members organized  the Junior League of South Brevard, Inc.  Special projects had not yet been decided on; however, each member agreed that they would fulfill a sixty (60) hour per League year service requirement, to be carried out by continuing their service with the many civic groups they were already working with and then to continue with the projects of the League. Marion Collins was appointed as the Chairman of the first “Project Finding Committee” on November 16, 1966 and was tasked to research and present projects to the membership along with her committee members; Shirley Lynch, Althea Krasney, Pat Madry, Terry Brown, Larie Gleason and Judith Robinson. On May 16, 1967, the League membership voted The Day Care Center as the League’s first Special Project. This began the League’s 55+ years of outstanding service, financial support and commitment to our community.
